The 4 Elements of Digital Content

By kahlain On January 9, 2011 · 4 Comments · In All, Location Based Marketing (LBM & LBS)

With today’s agile way to manage Tech projects, it is now more important than ever to better define our projects playground. Being myself a Product Manager, I was asking myself lately: What are the new and old elements that we need to better manage in the content creation process?

Content in this specific context is defined by a text creation, a new digital feature or even a new digital experience. It’s any end user experience that you’re aiming to reach.

From my perspective and experience, 4 questions influence and determine the content creation. Two of them are well known (Context and Social) but Location and Access types are coming as a strong trend that will push us to adapt our creation process.

The Context (what):

Context, theme or subject is the first variable that will impact every aspect of the content. What problem are we solving? What subject are we tackling? What feature are we developing?
In Search interface, the first interaction with the user is what: What are you searching for?

Location (where):

Location based marketing will be one of the most important variables in our content creation. This question is no longer about the language or the country that we are targeting or serving. The question now is about the location of the user and how can we adapt the experience and the content to this location.

Social (with whom):

Social can means a lot of things in the content creation process. There are two questions that will be rising. The first question is about the social input I(user generated content or UGC) and the second is about the social interaction with the content.

Access Type (how):

Do you still have separate teams for mobile and web, and are you working on the creation of a new team for tablets? Please don’t. Today’s technologies allow you to define the content and to adapt or adjust the content to any user interface or device.
Better defining those 4 key Elements will help create a better digital experience.

What are your key Elements to create Digital content?

    You rock momo !
I agree witch u but i want to share two points with u:
1- I think it will be better if we can add two new dimensions : TIME dimension (When) and the MOTIVATION dimension (Why)
2- I like Subject in place Context Dimension because all of those dimensions identify ONE Context
What do u think momo ?
    Thx

Thanks for taking the time engaging a discussion

1-Knowing your Tech. background, you’re looking at this with a tech perspective, I think we can add those elements in the What process.

2-Fair enough, as you can notice, I started my text under context with some Synonyms (theme/Subject).

      see ya
